Poor Baby and Poor Mommy

Poor Baby -- Okay, so we are raising the Jolly Green Giant. Jackson had his 2 month check-up today (and his next set of shots...poor baby). He weighed in at exactly 17 lbs. and was 25 inches. That means he will probably be double his birth weight by the end of this week! Yikes. The rice cereal dilemna also came up when the doc asked how he was feeding. Again, he didn't recommend the rice cereal, but he didn't really bat an eye when we told him that we had started him on it. His biggest concern abuot it was that Jackson would put on too much weight, but his concern seemed to go away when I explained that we really only gave it to him at night and that his weight gain should increase because the rice cereal caused him to sleep so much that he actually skipped a feeding at night -- whihc means he is taking in the same or less calories. He also wasn't concerned about Jackosn not getting enough nutritional goodies because he was feeding SO much during the day, that he got what he needed then. I don't mean to bring up the touchy subject, but it was nice to know that the doc wasn't concerned about our decision.

Poor Mommy -- Found out that she will be returning to work on Monday :(. What a crappy time of year to have to give up my time at home...what with the weather finally getting better and everything! As hard as it can be to stay at home (like right now, when Jackson is screaming in his crib!), I'm gonna miss all this time with the litte bugger.

Good luck with going back to work. I only had to do that with my first, but it's hard!

Hopefully you'll get to do a "trial run" with whoever will be caring for Jackson between now and then to make it a little easier transition for the two of you. Or maybe you can work half-days the first few days while the two of you slide into your new routine. Hopefully it'll go smoothly for both of you!

A little arnica oil on the injection site can help with any discomfort or swelling from the shots.

Just a bit of baby trivia:

Maureen 4.5 mos.=17 lbs.
27"

Billy 3 mos.=18 lbs.
25 1/4"

Colleen 3 mos.=18 lbs.
25"

(Maureen's birth weight was the highest yet her weight was the lowest early on.)

Colleen ate from a spoon at 2 1/2 weeks. Guess what she ate?????
RICE CEREAL!!!

Jackson leads the pack with weight.
