Fruit of the Loins

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I've finally just now come around to it. Here are pictures of Chris, Jackson, and I at about 6 months old each. Chris is paired with Jackson in the top pictures and that's Jackson and I in the bottom ones. To be fair, I tried to find recent pictures of Jackson with similar expressions on his face as we have in our old photos. I couldn't believe it when that photo next to Chris was the ONLY recent photo I had of Jackson's mouth closed. Maybe it's because he has been congested and has been breathing through his mouth?? Either that, or he just likes to wear the same dumb expression on his face as his Mommy apparently did.

I have my feelings as to which features Jackson has from his daddy and which features he has from me, but I don't want to bias anyone, so I will keep them to myself for now. What do you think??

King Kong

Today, he measured exactly 23 pounds at the doctor's office. He was also 29 1/4 inches long. (I guess that "long" turns into "tall" when he starts to stand up?) Apparently, he is thinning out, but he is still quite a big boy! I think that Jackson was quite impressed with his own size too. When I pulled out the camera during playtime, this was the pose he struck. Eerily reminicent of the movie King Kong, no?

Good Food, Good Company, but Bad Weather

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate this weekend, so Jackson didn't do any swimming. Chris was able to get some homework done though (thanks for watching Jackson, Grandpa) and I was able to get some unnecessary shopping done at Bailey's. If you have ever been to Bailey's in Knox, Indiana, you know what I mean. If you have never been there before, then picture a large warehouse in the middle of farm country that is part Sam's Club/Costco, part Big Lots, part WalMart (because of the crowded isles filled with catatonic shoppers), part generic dollar store, part L. Fish furniture, and part Ace hardware and you will begin to get an idea of what Bailey's is like. I highly recommend you experience it for yourself if you find yourself in Knox.

Jackson's Off to the Cabin ....

so no pictures until we get back.

Jackson says "Have a good weekend everyone!" and "Welcome, home Jake! Glad to finally have you in the 'hood."

Happy Half-Birthday Jackson!

He's 6 months old and very excited about it, as you can see.

Chris keeps trying to use Jackson's new favorite babble as evidence that he will say "Dada" first. Well, we'll just have to see about that. But if Jackson knows what's good for himself, then "Mama" better move up the chain real quick!

Today is the Last Day of the First Half of Jackson's First Year

He'll be 6 months old tomorrow. How time flies.....

Watching the Fishes

I guess even Jackson has already figured out that watching the fishes is preferable to swimming with them....

Mischief

This toy USED TO be standing up. He's not quite 6 months old and he's already figured out how to get into mischief...

As My Friend Jessica Said....

...he's a pretty happy baby.

By the way, he is officially sitting up all on his own now.

Tongue

Jackson has found that he likes to stick his tongue out.

Actually, I really think he has just discovered that he can run his tongue over the his top gums to cure the itch from teething.

Sitting Up and Sippy Cup

Jackson is working on sitting up and using a sippy cup.

He can sit up unsupported for a few minutes before the inevitable face first tumble occurs. He's getting better every day though.

Yesterday was his first day with the sippy cup. He did great on his first try, drank the whole cup by himself for the most part. I think he found it funny that formula was coming out of something besides his bottle. The sippy cup experience didn't go as well today. He had no interest in holding the cup himself. Oh well, he's only learning. He'll get it. We're only going to work on the sippy cup thing one time a day. I just think it is easier for him to hold himself than the bottle since the bottle is so bottom heavy. I guess we'll have to wait and see if I'm right.

Party Animal

This photo was taken last weekend at an office "birthday" party where Chris works. Why do people always try to put silly things on babies -- hats, glasses, shoes, etc.???

Check Out His Giggle

Why do I love it so much when he giggles??
Probably because it is so much more pleasant than the alternative...

Rough Introduction

Poor Big Bird, this must hurt. "Gentle" is obviously not yet in Jackson's vocabulary of understanding.

Igloo

Guest post from Jackson:

Look what my Daddy brought back for me from Minneapolis.....an igloo tent! I really like it! Mommy tells me the best part is that it only cost $7 at Ikea, but I like it because it's fun to stare at the ceiling! It has a funny shape.
