Lord help us, the kid apparently likes this stuff. Jackson has only spent about 15 minutes on this toy and I already can't get "Peek-A-Boo Baby!" out of my head. Oh, the fun years to come!! ;) It is fun, though, to see that Jackson can now actually be entertained and keep his attention on toys, people, etc. -- at least for a little while.
WANTED: SWM seeks "hot" SF to be his motorcycle girl. Must know what "asso, asso" means and like to chase cars down the street shouting it.
In thinking about Jackson's baptism that is coming up on Sunday, I started to wonder which saints' feast days were on February 24th, Jackson's birthday. Thanks to the internet, here is what I found:
St. Adela (1137)
Benefactor and English princess. Adela was the youngest daughter of William the Conqueror. In 1080 she married Stephen of Blois. Throughout her life, Adela had an active role in English politics. She was famed for endowing churches and monastic institutions.
St. Betto (918)
Benedictine bishop of Auxerre. He was a monk at Saint-Colombe Abbey in Sens, France, and was consecrated a bishop in 889.
St. Sergius (304)
Martyred monk, He was a monk (possibly a priest) in Cappadocia, arrested and put to death during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian.
St. John Theristus (1129)
Benedictine monk, called Theristus or “Harvester.” He was of Calabrian lineage, born in Sicily. His mother was a slave of the Saracens. John escaped at a young age and became a monk.
St. Modestus (489)
Bishop of Trier during the period of Frankish rule over the area from 486. His relics are enshrined in St. Matthias, Trier. Modestus suffered much during that difficult era.
St. Montanus (259)
Martyr with Flavian, Julian, Lucius, Victoricus, and five others at Carthage. They were disciples of St. Cyprian of Carthage. Victoricus was a priest. These martyrs were tortured and then beheaded.

Jackson had his one month doctor's visit today...he's definitely a big boy. Just less than 4 weeks after his birthday, Jackson now weighs 11 pounds, 11 ounces and he measures 22 3/4 inches long. That means he's gained almost 3 pounds and almost 2 inches! Yikes. Chris and I better start saving for those teenage boy food bills right NOW! Here is a picture of Jackson with his pediatrician, Dr. Fisher, from today. I guess he doesn't like Dr. Fisher too much right now!

As shown by the hairdo and the lip curl in this picture, Jackson is a BIG fan of "that Billy Idol" -- just like his Grandma. Either that or Jackson was channeling a very angry Eddie Munster, we're just not sure.
Jackson wanted to stay awake last night...it appears he thought we were throwing him a party or something. He stayed up most of the night partying like it was 1999. He hit the bottle real hard and scarfed down the leftover Aurelio's pizza that his uncle had sent us. Mommy regrets not taking Jackson's lead and hitting the bottle real hard last night too......
It's appropriate to quote Muhammad Ali today because Jackson slept like a CHAMP last night! He virtually slept from about 6:30pm to about 8:00am in about 3 hour or more shifts, with the longest break when he wasn't sleeping only lasting less than 1 hour. It was great. Chris and I actually got to sleep in the same bed together for more than 20 minutes....crazy. I just hope I don't jinx things by writing about how good he slept. Hopefully, this means that Jackson has started to figure this day/night thing out! We just want to keep moving forward and not take any steps backward.

no bushy tail here! Jackson went out for dinner for the first time yesterday and did very well...but I suspect that is because he slept through the whole outing. Not that I am complaining about that...it worked beautifully. It would just be nice if he would sleep when we want him to and be awake when we want him to. There'd be A LOT of money in it for someone to figure out a pill/therapy to fix the newborn night/day mix-up. Forget finding a cure for cancer or Parkinsons, the money is in the drug that safely gets newborns to recognize day is for playtime and night is for sleep!! :) Thank God I am off work right now, that makes this whole adjustment period much easier to handle. Not having to keep any sort of schedule right now means its not such a big deal to be up at all hours of the night. Right about now, Jackson has taken a liking to sleeping from about 6am to 12pm or 1pm, which, out of necessity, has also turned into my sleep-time. Feels like I'm back in college!! If anyone is up at 3am, please feel free to give Jackson or I a phone call....we'll be up! ;)
Having complained enough (too much?) about Jackson's sleeping habits, I feel compelled to share something positive about our beautiful boy. Given that I am sure NO ONE wants to hear about his pooping/peeing habits, I guess I'll let everyone know that Jackson definitely does NOT have any problems eating...I guess he gets that from his Daddy....and his Mommy! He tells me that he only eats so much because he is a growing little boy, but I'm not convinced that he's not preparing for the NY Nathan's annual hotdog eating contest in a few years. He seems to have the bottomless stomach for it!
We went to the pediatrician for the first time earlier this week. Jackson's (and Mommy's) first trip out of the house since coming home from the hospital. Kind of a waste of time since the doctor didn't really do anything but give him the good "once over", but I guess it was nice to hear from an "expert" that Jackson looked healthy. For those that keep track of such things, he measured in the 75%-ile in weight, 97%-ile in length, and 75%-ile in head circumference.....which really made me feel bad for those women who give birth to babies with head's in the 90%-ile or more - Yikes!
