Man of the House

In his Daddy's absense, Jackson is the man of the house. I think he enjoys his new role. He's already got the belching and passing gas part down pat. Plus, he has really taken well to learning the other major tasks of the job. He has spent a considerable amount of time mastering the art of the remote control. Like Daddy, Jackson has also been babbling about nothing non-stop. Although, unlike Daddy, Jackson has yet to feel the need to discuss the bad strategy moves of the 2004 Kerry campaign or the virtues of football over every other sport, but he's only 5 months old....give him time. He's just sorry that he's not old enough to drink beer yet...his daddy tells him that's the best part.

Grandparents Rule!

While photographic evidence is lacking, Jackson had a great time this weekend spending time with his grandparents. First, we brought him over to Mammaw's house for a little while on Saturday evening and left him there while Chris and I went out to dinner alone. Thats' weird to write..."alone". It was pleasant to get to spend the meal with just Chris and I before he left for Minnesota this week.

Then, Grandma and Grandpa came down later that night to visit. It was nice of them to keep me company after Chris left. Grandma even got up at 6:30am to feed Jackson his breakfast this morning. Grandpa, on the otherhand, wasn't quite prepared to help out with breakfast, seeing as though he probably didn't go to bed until after midnight. Grandpa sure did help out in lots of other ways though....like buying lunch, buying dinner, picking up dinner, etc. He may not be a morning person, but he's still pretty handy to have around!!

Packages! Packages!

Jackson got TWO packages in the mail today! His Grandma sent him the Colts stuffed heart to wish him a "happy first football season". Just in time for training camp too! Given that he likes to chew on everything, that will be great to chew on during pre-season games. Plus, his first free book from Dolly Parton arrived. Bet you can't guess which book it was!! Jackson did have two good questions about the book cover though. 1) Why is there a clown on top of the engine car? 2) Why does the clown look like he's about to jump off the back of a moving train? Dolly is so awesome, she probably knows the answer. Maybe Jackson's daddy can ask her personally...he is like her 5th cousin twice removed or something like that. Seriously. You do know he's from Tennessee, right? That's how they do things down there.

Summer Outfit

I think that Jackson got this outfit from Grandma.....I'm not sure though. I don't think she meant for his shorts to be riding that high on his waist though! We may be raising a "geek" here, but that's okay with me. He must get that "geek" look from his Grandpa.

You Wouldn't Know It By Looking At This Picture, But He Still Doesn't Feel That Great

Even with a cold, he is still pretty darn cute, ain't he!?! That's a rhetorical question, no need to answer....I already know he's the cutest 5 month, 2 day old baby on the planet.

Teeth

Yes, that's the plural "teeth", not just "tooth". The tooth right next to the visible one, has just barely popped a corner through his gums -- although you can't really see it in the photo. Plus, in addition to the excessive fussiness cause by teething, Jackson also officially has his first cold, which he doesn't particularly care for, especially when you wipe his nose. I believe that the several snotty kids in daycare are to blame. Such are the downsides to daycare (although I tell myself it will be good for his immune system!). As you can imagine, with the teething and the cold, it is nothing but good times when Jackson is around these days!! :)

In Case You Missed It....

.....Jackson turned 5 months old today!!
