Jackson's Room

We're working on his superhero room right now. Trying our best to get it done before #2 makes its appearance. Earlier this week Chris brought home and put in the crib bedding for the nursery and Jackson got a bit jealous. You know, wanting to play with the toys, get in the crib, etc. We let him do it, of course, and it's not a huge deal, but we felt that actually finishing his room might make him less jealous of the nursery. So....we're working on it. Slowly. I think the last time-consuming thing to be done is to put of the chair-rail comic book border. Chris says that he hopes to have all the decorating in Jackson's room and the nursery done by the end of the long weekend. I just hope he's right! :)

You Should See the Other Guy

Jackson went face first on our former neighbor's driveway while they were playing catch. He got his cheek, chin, and shoulder pretty good. Ouch.

I should be able to say that he went all day in his underwear today for the first time without any accidents...but I can't...but it's not Jackson's fault. His two daycare workers didn't communicate too well this morning and the one didn't tell the other that Jackson was wearing underwear to school for the first time. So, unbeknownst to her, Ms. Belinda unwittingly put Jackson down for his nap without putting a pull-up on him. His only accident all day was while he was sleeping, so that's pretty good in my book. We haven't really been pushing the underwear lately or anything, what with the move and all, but this morning Jackson said it was hurting him to pee and he wanted to wear underwear today. Turns out he's gotten some chafing "down there" so I imagine the underwear feels better for him than the pull-up. Sounds like an opportune time to make a first real run at underwear if you ask me! Anyway, the "dry run" obviously went well enough that we're gonna try it again tomorrow.

Adjusting Well

A lot of people have asked about whether Jackson has adjusted to the new house well or not. The answer to that question is that he has done swimmingly. The new house is much more open than the 1940s-built house so he's having a good time running around. The only downside to the new house right now has been the yard because it is useless to him while we are trying to get the sod to take root. That's getting better with every passing day though and we can let him run around on it a bit sometimes. The only remaining problem is that we have to water the grass constantly so the grass is usually soaking wet, which also limits when/where he can play. For the time-being though, he is enjoying his truck a lot and cruising around the neighborhood streets meeting the neighbors. Now that he has some room to maneuver, he's even learned to steer the truck properly (which he hadn't figured out before). He's also discovered that the truck can reverse, so he's have fun with that - although I'm not having fun with the reverse because he keeps running into the curb and getting stuck. He really doesn't seem to be scared of the new house or otherwise miss the old house. The only tangible difference that I can see in him at the new house is that he wants his bedroom door to be cracked at night. We never used to do this at the old house and he never asked for it before, so I'm not even sure where he learned it from. I'm guessing he got it from either the babysitter or sleeping over at other people's houses. It's not a huge accomodation to make to help him adjust, but I really wish he hadn't learned about "cracking the door" because when the baby comes the cracked door is gonna make that screaming baby a lot louder for him to sleep through.

Cruisin' the New 'Hood

I think he has that pissy look on his face because he was embarassed by his Daddy taking pictures of him while he was crusing for chicks. Your Dad with a camera will really put a damper on your "smooth moves"....

But, he really doesn't look that much different than the last photo, okay?! You'll just have to take my word on that...

The best two things I can say about the move are:
1) its OVER.
2) the money we spent to hire the movers was the best money we spent all year!
