On Friday night, Jackson spent the night at his Mammaw's house so that Chris and I could go a AAA baseball game to help celebrate the 30th birthdays of some friends of ours. They are married and turned 30 on the SAME DAY - freaks.
Then on Saturday, we went to the Italian Festival in our old neighborhood. Of course we ate way too much food, but it sure was good going down. By far, Jackson's favorite food was the breadsticks though. What can I say, he takes after his Grandma. While we were there, we also bought some tickets to ride the merry-go-round. Let's just say that it wasn't Jackson's favorite part of the night, which was surprising. He likes (or liked, as the case might be) the "real" one at the Children's Museum, but he didn't like this one very much. This merry-go-round was not very big in diameter and they had the motor cranked to the highest speed, so you really felt like you were zipping around and around. I was even starting to get dizzy. I don't know if it made Jackson dizzy too or if he was just frightened by the scary carnie running it, but he didn't care for it very much, so that was the only ride we took.
Then today we went strawberry picking. The strawberries had all pretty much been picked over, so there was not much left but a few small berries. But I still think he had a good time running around eating what was left anyway! The strawberries were not even his favorite part of the whole trip - I think that was either the tractor that we saw or the dandelion weeds. If I had known that was what he wanted to do, I think we probably could have just stayed home and picked our own weeds!
Looking for strawberries is hard work....
....especially at the end of the season when everything has been picked over.
Hey Mommy! Daddy's got berries in this box! I'm done picking ones from the ground then!
Ahhh! Sweet reward.
Bored with the strawberries, Daddy? Eat this instead.
