You Mean Grandma's 60 Today?!?

Happy Birthday Grandma!!

P.S. Jackson also wishes his Grandpa a happy birthday tomorrow since he won't be able to post his birthday wishes on the blog while we are in Knoxville!

P.P.S. Ditto to his Mommy on the day after Grandpa's birthday!

Swing

If Mommy and Daddy ever get their act together, maybe Jackson will have this swing in his own backyard by the time winter rolls around. Our neighbors offered us the fort/swingset that is in their backyard since their kids are older and no longer use it. We accepted their offer to take the swingset off their hands, but we have been slow to get it over the fence. It is made of wood and quite heavy, so we have to wait until we have the time and the muscle to either move it whole or take it apart and reconstruct it in our yard. Maybe I am not in such a rush to put it in our yard since Jackson has given it mixed reviews thus far. He seems to enjoy swinging for a few minutes and then he is DONE with it quickly. Fickle boy.

Labor Day Weekend

Jackson spent much of Labor Day weekend with the Maples family. He was a very good boy and just loved sitting and watching all the little kids running around. Mammaw just kept saying to Jackson: "Just wait til next year, then you can run around with all those kids." Here's a picture of Jackson at the reunion with his Great Aunt Geraldine.

Fruit of the Loins

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but I've finally just now come around to it. Here are pictures of Chris, Jackson, and I at about 6 months old each. Chris is paired with Jackson in the top pictures and that's Jackson and I in the bottom ones. To be fair, I tried to find recent pictures of Jackson with similar expressions on his face as we have in our old photos. I couldn't believe it when that photo next to Chris was the ONLY recent photo I had of Jackson's mouth closed. Maybe it's because he has been congested and has been breathing through his mouth?? Either that, or he just likes to wear the same dumb expression on his face as his Mommy apparently did.

I have my feelings as to which features Jackson has from his daddy and which features he has from me, but I don't want to bias anyone, so I will keep them to myself for now. What do you think??

King Kong

Today, he measured exactly 23 pounds at the doctor's office. He was also 29 1/4 inches long. (I guess that "long" turns into "tall" when he starts to stand up?) Apparently, he is thinning out, but he is still quite a big boy! I think that Jackson was quite impressed with his own size too. When I pulled out the camera during playtime, this was the pose he struck. Eerily reminicent of the movie King Kong, no?

Good Food, Good Company, but Bad Weather

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate this weekend, so Jackson didn't do any swimming. Chris was able to get some homework done though (thanks for watching Jackson, Grandpa) and I was able to get some unnecessary shopping done at Bailey's. If you have ever been to Bailey's in Knox, Indiana, you know what I mean. If you have never been there before, then picture a large warehouse in the middle of farm country that is part Sam's Club/Costco, part Big Lots, part WalMart (because of the crowded isles filled with catatonic shoppers), part generic dollar store, part L. Fish furniture, and part Ace hardware and you will begin to get an idea of what Bailey's is like. I highly recommend you experience it for yourself if you find yourself in Knox.
