Bronchiolitis
Sounds like a dinosaur, right?
I wish.
It's actually an upper respiratory infection that Jackson has caught. I only wonder how long he has had it. He's had a lingering cold for about 2 weeks now, but after about 7-8 days, I thought that the cold was getting better, so I didn't take him to see the doctor. Then, it came back stronger a few days ago. After having a fever all weekend, we took him to the doctor on Monday and found out what was wrong. It's viral, so there really isn't any cure, just a treatment to make breathing easier - prednisone and an albuteral nebulizer. Having been on a nebulizer MANY times as a child, I knew what Jackson was in for. Despite my reassurances to him that the mask doesn't hurt, the mist doesn't hurt, and the machine doesn't hurt (it's just loud), Jackson was not happy about the situation. He screamed BLOODY MURDER during the first treatment at the doctor's office and the second treatment at home didn't go any better. Keeping this kid's mouth/nose anywhere near the mask for 10 minutes is definitely a 2-parent operation: one to hold legs and arms down and the other to hold the mask in place. Then, of course, Jackson gets the jitters after the treatment and he acts like he's on "baby crack" or something (I think that baby crack is something you pick up on East Washington Street). He goes from whining and crying to intensely interested in the lightbulb in a split-second. The next few days of these treatments are not going to be fun, but I just hope he starts to feel better by Saturday for his big birthday party. :)
Here he is on Friday with a package he got from Grandma and Grandpa while they were vacationing in Arizona!
